1. Who We Are
Ghar Devta ("we", "us", "our") operates the website ghardevta.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our site, how we use it, and how we protect it.
2. Information We Collect
When you make a seva request we collect the following information that you provide:
- Your full name
- Phone number (WhatsApp / mobile), which you verify with a one-time code sent on WhatsApp
- Email address
- Devotee names and sankalp (your stated intention)
- Gotra (optional)
- Preferred seva date (optional)
We also collect payment-related data via Razorpay: Razorpay payment ID, order ID or subscription ID. We do not store any card number, UPI handle or bank account details on our servers.
When you verify your phone number, we keep you signed in on that browser with a secure cookie so you can see your sevas, payments and monthly auto-pay under My sevas. You can sign out at any time.
To show how many devotees are on the site, each open page sends a random, anonymous visitor ID every 30 seconds. It is not linked to you and is kept only in memory for about a minute.
We collect usage data (page views, device type, browser) via Google Analytics to improve our site, and via the Meta Pixel to measure and improve our ads on Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Pixel records pages visited and when a booking is started or paid; it does not receive your name, phone, email or sankalp.
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the site (clicks, scrolling and page layout, as heatmaps and session recordings) so we can make it easier to use. The booking form and your My sevas page are masked, so Clarity does not record what you type or your seva details.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To process and confirm your seva request at the temple or gaushala.
- To contact you via WhatsApp or email with seva updates and proof of offering.
- To manage your monthly auto-pay subscription (if applicable).
- To send you important service communications (e.g., failed payment alerts).
- To improve our website and services using aggregated analytics.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.
4. Data Sharing
We share your information only as necessary to deliver the service:
- Razorpay — our payment processor. Their privacy policy applies to any data processed on their platform: razorpay.com/privacy.
- The temple / gaushala — your devotee name and sankalp are shared with the priest who performs the seva.
- Google, Microsoft and Meta — usage and ad measurement data, as described above.
- Neon (database) — your request details are stored in a secure, encrypted cloud database.
5. Data Retention
We retain your seva request data for as long as needed to provide your seva and to keep your payment records, and for as long as the law requires. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal obligations).
- Object to or restrict how we use your data for marketing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
7. Cookies
Our site uses a sign-in cookie once you verify your phone number, cookies for analytics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity), and the Meta Pixel, which uses cookies to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads. You can control ad tracking in your Facebook settings or block third-party cookies in your browser.
8. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Sensitive secrets (API keys) are stored as encrypted environment variables and never exposed to the browser.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
